COMFREY AND CALENDULA
Updated: May 30, 2021
We have been harvesting calendula since, I think, January. It's been drying in our kitchen and we've blended it into a powder to be steeped in Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
We've also been harvesting and drying comfrey also for oils. This plant is so gorgeous, particularly when it flowers. I got a cutting from my friend Michelle a couple years ago and it's been such a sturdy little grower in my Lemon Tree Guild.
Both of these plants are so abundant in winter and early spring. In past years I have not harvested enough at those times because they seem like they'll never stop but as soon as it dries up both of these plants stop being so lush and productive.
Peas are a fun harvest project for kiddo and there are some kumquats low enough for him to harvest too!
